The massive 7.0 magnitude earthquake devastated the nation of haiti. In all, an estimated 3 million people have been affected by this tragedy. Jesus calls us from awareness to compassion and into action for the people He created, loves, and hears in haiti. at the Beacon, there are a couple of ways we are stepping into this call and responding to the devastation there:
PRAY for those suffering, for the church to respond, for those on the front lines of the response, for provision and safety, and for God's Kingdom to invade in poweful ways.
GIVE- We are partnering with Hope Force International, which has trained several of our people to be reservists. They have a team in Haiti now, in action. Click here for more information about Hope Force International.
The amount of supplies needed is beyond massive. Even the smallest supplies, the every day ones we mostly all have in excess, can literally change lives in haiti right now. If you are interested in purchasing supplies that we will send to haiti, you can drop them off at the CommUnity Life Center on Sundays. Click here for a specific list of what to donate
GO- but you need to be trained. Training is available

I am aware that USCIS has the authority to issue a humanitarian parole for Keembert Estime to travel to the United States to live with Mark and Kristen Howerton pending final adoption processing in Haiti. While granting a humanitarian parole is outside the normal procedures, the United States government has granted them in the past (e.g. Cambodia and Romania).
While I realize that the United States seeks to honor the adoption process established in Haiti, I feel that Keembert Estime and the country of Haiti would be best served by Keembert Estime being placed with Mark and Kristen Howerton, his future mom/dad. I feel that Haitian authorities would agree to this if it was proposed. What better way for the United States to help Haiti than to care for Haiti's child that is already so loved by this family."
